Dr Tameer interviewed for The Guardian
Dr Tameer sat down with The Guardian to talk animals, government and legislation
Dr Tameer got the chance to discuss the work of KOARP with the UK newspaper The Guardian.
It was a great opportunity to highlight the draft bill on animal welfare that KOARP continues to lobby for.
There are currently no laws protecting the welfare of animals in Kurdistan, an issue KOARP have been battling for many years. The new bill would criminalise unnecessary pain, set standards for livestock transport, bring in licenses for slaughterhouses and abattoirs, and set fines for animal cruelty.
The bill on animal welfare is now due to be considered by the Kurdish parliament, with a vote due later this year.
As he says in the article, Dr Tameer and KOARP feel people are ready for change. We appreciate all your support so far and hope we have good news later this year!
